Have you ever heard an Amy Grant song called “Angels”? I’m sure some of you have. In fact, I know one person in particular (Hi Marlene!) positively has.
Here’s the 2nd verse:
God only knows the times my life was threatened just today
A reckless car ran out of gas before it ran my way
Near misses all around me, accidents unknown
Though I never see with human eyes the hands that lead me home
But I know they’re all around me all day and through the night
When the enemy is closing in I know sometimes they fight
To keep my feet from falling I’ll never turn away
If you’re asking what’s protecting me then you’re gonna hear me say
So my car’s brake light has been stuck on for several weeks. And I’ve been asking Mike to please do whatever needs to be done about it (in our house car stuff is taken care of by Mike). I finally laid down the law the other day and said do something about it – your daughter has to ride in that car! I think my guardian angel was whispering in my ear.
Angels watching over me every move I make…
Mike called our mechanic friend and he stopped by on his way home from work tonight to check and see what needed to be done before he took it to work with him in the morning to fix it. We all really just expected that the back pads and stuff needed replacing – regular maintenance type stuff. But instead, we found out it was the master cylinder leaking, there was basically no brake fluid in it and mechanic friend said had I driven that car anymore, they would have gone out. I drove that car today, my friends. With my daughter in it. And nothing happened. Everything seemed fine. I was just trying to get one last errand in before my car was gone all day tomorrow. And I’ve driven it a lot this week. With my girl in it.
Angels watching over me…
Those angels whispered in my ear right when they needed to. And it’s not the first time. I like to think that one of my guardian angels is my Mom. She’s not about to let anything happen to me or her precious granddaughter. I remember a few years ago when I had been nagging Mike about fixing the door from the house to the garage and then finally I put my foot down. The door wouldn’t catch all the time when you shut it. He fixed it. And just a few days later, we had an unwanted visitor try to come into our house. I grabbed that door, I slammed that door in his face and it caught. Because Mike had fixed it just days before.
Angels watching over me every step I take…
The latch to my back door on my car is also screwed up right now. I wrote about not being able to get it open a few weeks ago. When we went to the zoo yesterday, instead of not being able to get it open, I couldn’t get it to lock. So I said a little prayer that no one would try it and do any damage or steal anything while we were in the zoo. And nothing happened.
Angels watching over me…
You can bet I’ll be giving extra thanks tonight. God is good…all the time. All the time…God is good.
