Flashback Friday Theme O’ the Week

Filed under: Flashback Friday, General — Karin at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 8, 2006

In honor of my friends whose adoption papers should be signed on Friday, the theme this week is: The story of how you told someone (or were told) about a pregnancy or adoption or however you ended up with your little bundle of joy. Could be how you told your spouse you were pregnant if you want to share. Could be how you told your family. Could be how your sister told you or your best friend or whatever. But give us something to smile and/or cry about. Because boy have I been crying this week!

And then come back to this blog on Friday and post the link to your story!

Flashback Friday - I’ve Got a Crush on You

Filed under: Flashback Friday — Karin at 12:01 am on Friday, February 17, 2006

I’ve got a crush on you sweetie pie
All the day and nighttime hear me sigh
The world will pardon my mush
Cuz I’ve got a crush, my baby, on you….

I think the word “crush” is apropos to describe that first heartbreaking unrequited love - or maybe any unrequited love - because you always seem to be crushed when you realize it’s just not going to happen.

We’ve all been there, done that. So share your crush story on your blog, come back here and leave a comment, and we’ll all be crushed together.

Personally, my favorite crush is Grape Crush. Oh wait, wrong crush. Never mind. Can’t wait to read your stories, though!

Flashback Friday Theme O’ the Week

Filed under: Flashback Friday — Karin at 12:54 pm on Wednesday, February 15, 2006

I bet you thought I forgot didn’t you! Well…I did! But just now I remembered, so here it is. Since we talked about Valentine’s Day last Friday and we’ve talked about our first kiss and dished on dating memories and I still want to keep the “love” theme going this week, the theme will be (drum roll please)….

Crushes! Remember when you were a kid and you had a crush on your best friend’s older brother or maybe your P.E. teacher or the bag boy at the grocery store or whatever? Tell us about one of those crazy kid crushes (or an adult crush too!). Write a post in your blog and as always leave a comment on the Friday post and I’ll put your link in the post like I did last week, cuz I kinda liked that.

Flashback Friday - Dude! Where’re My Roses?

Filed under: Flashback Friday — Karin at 12:01 am on Friday, February 10, 2006

Ah Valentine’s Day. People either love it or they hate it. Around here, it is kind of a tough holiday since it falls smack dab in between our anniversary and Mike’s birthday. Sometimes it doesn’t get its due. Either way, it’s still all about the love right? So, now is the time to blog those Valentine’s stories and then come leave your links here in the comments. I’m going to try to do something a little different this time a la Thursday Thirteen and add the links right to this here post before the jump. We’ll see how that works out.

Ch-ch-ch-changes

Filed under: Adventures in Housekeeping, Baby Girl, Disorganization, Flashback Friday, Forward Progress — Karin at 4:12 pm on Friday, January 27, 2006

On my new schedule, Thursday is the day that I clean Little Girl’s room each week. So, yesterday I spent the morning in her room working working working. I decided that it was high time that it went from being a “baby’s room” to a “toddler’s room” and became not only toddler-friendly, but toddler-proof. We had never fully baby-proofed her room before because to be honest, she just didn’t spend time in there unless she was sleeping. But at some point in a child’s life, it’s only fair that they are able to use their room for more than sleeping, so that was my goal yesterday. I cleaned and swept and rearranged and now she has a play area and a reading area and a whole lot of space in the rest of the room to crawl around to her little heart’s content (and walk too when she gets that notion). All the clothes tubs are put away up in her closet. She has a new trash can that she (hopefully) won’t be able to get into so easily (although she’s already figured out how to lift the lid up on the diaper pail *sigh*). All the plugs are covered and Mike has promised that he will install a plug high up on the wall for the air filter and the nightlight - in the meantime we’ll just have to live without them. Mike bolted her dressers and book/toyshelf to the wall today. We’ve spent time in there playing with her and she just loves it and I feel safe enough to leave her alone in there for a few minutes here and there. Melody is learning that she is not allowed over the threshold (yet - I know that won’t last forever…lol) and so when we’re in there with Little Girl she will lay in the hall and look at us with those sad puppydog eyes of hers. So at least ONE room in my house is organized and clean. One down, and way too many more to go. But it’s a start.

Now the question of the week (well actually there are two).

First of all, does anyone know where you can get stickers for the bottom of the bathtub? You know the kind that keep you from slipping? I checked at Target yesterday and all they had were the kind that attach with suction cups. We are looking for the adhesive kind. Any thoughts are appreciated.

And also, since I was sorting through some hand-me-down toddler clothes today, could someone please tell me the difference between 24 mths and 2T? Both Marlene and Theresa think that it might have to do with diaper room (as in the 24 mth clothes have more diaper room) and that certainly makes sense, but does anyone know any other differences? I’m thinking they just do it to make us think we have to buy twice as many clothes…hehehe.

And finally, thanks so much to all of you for playing Flashback Friday today! I’m still looking for some more topics to try and I’m tossing around the idea of making a Flashback Friday blogroll. Your thoughts on these two things will also be greatly appreciated. :)

Have a great weekend everybody!!!

P.S. If anyone read this before I proofed it, I apologize for my typos. I hit publish before I proofed. Bad Karin!

Flashback Friday Theme o’ the Week

Filed under: Flashback Friday — Karin at 12:01 am on Wednesday, December 7, 2005

Okay, I thought for awhile and I came up with a brilliant theme for Flashback Friday this week, but then I woke up from my dream and of course it was gone. *Poof* So instead, I looked to my email and got a brilliant idea from there - it’s not exactly what Theresa suggested, but I’m going to save her actual suggestion for another time.

In the meantime, in honor of the holiday* season, please choose one (or more if you insist) holiday song and tell us why that particular song has meaning for you. And it doesn’t have to be warm and fuzzy. It can be goofy, silly, sad, reminiscent, cranky, or any other adjective you can think of.

Whatever the case, post your flashback (with lyrics if you like), then leave a comment or send a trackback and we’ll all come check ‘em out!

*No, I’m not really trying to be politically correct by saying “holiday” instead of “Christmas”. I am just aware that there are people who read and participate in Flashback Friday that do not celebrate Christmas, so I’m trying to make it all-inclusive. :D

Flashback Friday Theme o’ the Week

Filed under: Flashback Friday — Karin at 12:01 am on Wednesday, November 30, 2005

I’m going to change it up a little this week in honor of Baby Girl’s first birthday. It’s all about the positive this week. So, those of you with kids, please post a flashback about your child or children - something warm and fuzzy. If you don’t have kids yet, then your assignment is to think of a warm and fuzzy story from your childhood. My flashback will be her birthday letter, but I’ll put up a special Flashback Friday thread sometime after midnight on Friday morning to add your comments and trackbacks to. Friday is Baby Girl’s birthday and Saturday is her party, so I’ll try my best to respond and get around to everyone’s flashbacks but if I’m behind, you’ll know why - it’s not because I don’t want to!
