Pardon Me While I SCREAM

UPDATE: Marlene was right when she said maybe they made a mistake. The pharmacy did indeed make a mistake and luckily my cardiologist’s office called them and figured it out. Tier 2 meds are still $35, but that’s a lot better than $89!

So, the cardiologist’s office calls this morning. The insurance wouldn’t okay the prescription the doctor wanted (it’s two pills in one), but they okayed the two pills separately. Which makes no effing sense if you ask me, but WHATEVER. Fine. So I called the pharmacy to see if they were ready, which, lo and behold, they were ready!! But guess what??? Guess how much they cost?? $89. Eighty-nine dollars. And that’s WITH a discount. I would have to pay $89 every month of the year which comes out to a grand total of $1068 over the course of a year. On top of the other $30 a month I have to pay for the OTHER prescriptions I’m taking. Yeah. No. Can’t do it. So, I called the dr’s office back to tell them I can’t afford that medicine. Don’t know what’s going to happen, but I do know that the other pills that makes me cough has to go. I pulled a frigging muscle in my side in bed last night from coughing. Not. okay.

Insurance, thy name is EVIL.

Edited to add: I just looked on their stupid formulary and it’s on Tier 2 which should equal a $35 copay. So I really don’t know wtf is up with the insurance. But I’m about ready to smack someone upside the head.

How annoying! Maybe the pharmacy made an error, or, as I’ve had happen before, the dr. wrote the prescription for a dosage that costs more. It is frustrating!

Call your insurance company. Ask your doctor to call your insurance company. Tell the pharmacy to call your insurance company. There has to be a mistake. If not, ‘be one’ with the squeaky wheel – file a complaint. Demand that the issue be resolved within 30 days. Explain your cardiac history and current problems.

I really hate insurance companies…
