So Close and Yet So Far

Do you read The Pioneer Woman? I’ve been reading her for quite awhile and I really love her. She seems “real” to me unlike some bloggers out there. I mean how can you not be real when you live on a ranch and you talk about stepping in cow poop and take pictures of bull testicles that have landed on your boots? I really think that if we met, we’d be best friends forever! Or at least we’d get along really well. Once she realized I wasn’t a weird stalker or something. Anywayyyyyy, Ree (the Pioneer Woman) has a new cookbook out. You can find somewhere to get it right here. I got it from amazon.com cuz that’s how I roll. Seriously though, it’s really a beautiful cookbook and I think beautiful cookbooks make me want to use them more than boring cookbooks.

She’s also doing a book tour. And she’ll be here in Arizona on Thursday! Hurray! Except. She’s going to be on the other side of town. Far far away from me. At night. In the dark. Okay, I’m sure the bookstore won’t be dark, but the night is dark. In fact, it’s a very cool bookstore. And I’m not just saying that because my cousin was one of the original owners of the bookstore. (He really was!) It’s really a great bookstore, and I’d really love to go there and meet Ree. But it’s dark. And far. And my beloved hubby, who would surely drive me out there because he’s good like that, is working Thursday night, so he can’t. And I don’t like driving that far at night. In the dark. And I’d either have to take LG with me or take her to a babysitter. Which would mean more driving. At night. In the dark.

So, as much as I’d love to meet Ree and have her sign my book, and become best friends forever (or at least maybe just email buddies? twitter friends? facebook friends? something?), it’s not going to happen. Because unless you already are my best friend forever, I’m not going to drive around at night in the dark for you to the other side of town.

But! If you want to go meet Ree and tell her about me (just don’t make me sound like a weirdo), she will not only be coming to Arizona, but many other places, so go to this page and see if she’s coming to a bookstore near you. At night. In the dark. :)

I ordered her cookbook too. I love all her stories before all the recipes, and all the beautiful pictures.

I love reading her but I admit I was a bit put off by the whole instant celebrity thing. It has gone to her head a bit, but I imagine she’d be fun to chat with. Let me know if there are some to die for recipes in there. :)

Theresa,

I think most of her recipes are yummy, but what I read was that most of the recipes in the book are available on her blog. I’ll just get them there!
