Summer’s Almost Over
I thought I would revisit my post from earlier in the week and update all the things on my agenda for the week and see how I did.
• Buy LG’s school supplies. (How can this be? Luckily, I love school supplies.)
This is mostly done. There are still a couple of small things I need to get.
• Get quilt binding and bind a table runner for my mother-in-law.
Got the quilt binding, but haven’t done the sewing yet. Baby steps.
• Make baby gifts for friends.
Got the stuff I needed to do this, but haven’t actually started on the sewing. Again - baby steps.
• Get a follow-up mammogram/ultrasound (Tuesday morning)
Got that done, but now have to visit a surgeon to “make sure” everything is okay. My ob/gyn’s office made the appointment, but I called to see if I could get it for a little later in the morning. The weird thing about that was that the first available appointments were for Tuesday the 18th and as I was talking with the receptionist, I realized I had to work around LG’s school schedule. So that’s an interesting new development in my life. Not used to having to work around dropping her off and picking her up at school. But that will be my life for the next decade or so. Weird.
• Plan music for the fall with Mike and the music director.
Taken care of - or at least several weeks are planned. Originally we had this scheduled for Wednesday, but it ended up happening on Thursday instead.
• Go to the last summer movie.
I missed the movie with LG today because even though I woke up in plenty of time to go, I woke up tired and could not motivate myself to get ready to go somewhere out in public. Mike took LG, though, so they had a little quality time, and that’s always good. I did manage while they were gone to get a few things done, so at least I can feel good about that. LG is already asking when the movies come back. Considering that she only admitted to liking one movie this summer, I’d say that, at the very least, the experience of going was a hit. ;)
• Go to the grocery store.
Had to go twice, though, because no one wrote orange juice on the list which we ran out of and LG decided she liked bagels and the bagel package was emptied rather quickly.
• Make LG a dentist appointment.
Not done yet. Gotta get that done!
• Get LG some new shoes and maybe clothes for school.
Got some clothes, but still need shoes.
• Go to Tuesday Morning with my mother-in-law.
Maybe next week.
And I have to add something to the list:
• Get LG’s new dance shoes since her class starts the same week as school does.
Hard to believe that summer is over* in a week. This is the first time that we’ll really “feel” like summer is over because it’s the first time we have to think about the beginning of school. But from now on, life will revolve around the school year, something I’m very familiar with already having been a teacher for nine years before I got pregnant with LG and “retired”.
My BFF’s oldest daughter, Social Butterfly, registered for high school today. Mike was telling LG this morning that when we met Social Butterfly, she was right around LG’s age. Time surely does fly.
*And by over, I mean that the summer break is over, not summer weather. That will be here until mid-October most likely.
