365 Days of Grace #39

Today was a weird day. We had technical difficulties at our monthly church gig. We never seemed to quite get in the groove today. At least our main songs went well, especially considering the only time we rehearsed them all together as a group was right before we performed them. Then at mass tonight, we had a spazzed out 12 year old in the choir (although she finally despazzed by the time Mass started) and a small child on the loose in the church. It was just all very…weird.
1. So, I guess one thing to be thankful for is that our songs went well regardless of all the other stuff going on.
2. I’m also thankful that my child would never even think about doing what the small child at church was doing.
3. My child is far from perfect, and sometimes her stubbornness makes me want to bang my head against the wall, but I promised myself after she was born that I would remember that her stubbornness or feistiness or determination or tenacity or whatever you want to call it, got her safely into this world when the odds were very stacked against her. I need to have more patience with the small stuff, and focus on the behaviors that really need to be worked on, because in general she’s a pretty good kid and I need to make sure she stays that way.
4. I found my black jeans that I couldn’t find the other day.
5. And the last thing is not my news, but it makes me happy for Marlene – she got a 25 minute phone call this afternoon from her son who is in basic training for the National Guard. I know how much that meant to her, and I’m so happy she was blessed with such a wonderful gift today!
