Home Alone or Why I’m not at the Staff Party with Mike
So tonight is the church staff party. Mike wasn’t going to go because he was going to be working. But then he wasn’t. And then he was. And then he wasn’t. Or something. But, whatever the case I wasn’t planning on going and thought I’d go out with the twentysomethings. So he decided to take LG as his date. Her first “date” with Daddy! How cool is that?
I ended up not going out with the gang (long story, but suffice it to say neither Mike nor I have any cash at the moment) and it was too late to RSVP for the staff party and get food, so I decided to stay home and work on a sewing project, have some peace and quiet, hang out, watch a movie, etc. Of course, the stupid dvd player decided to take a dump so I ended up buying an On Demand movie instead. Which is a bummer because I really wanted to watch The Holiday again. Fun holiday movie. (Not for the kiddos, though.)
The party is a pot luck, so Mike put down cupcakes since we had just made cupcakes for LG’s birthday party and he figured we had all the ingredients so we wouldn’t have to buy anything. Which was correct. So, I made the cupcakes and the buttercream frosting and he came up with the plan to decorate them, but we didn’t have any green sugar sprinkles, so I made some using regular sugar and food coloring. It’s much finer than the regular sprinkles, but it worked well for what he was doing. How cute is this?
