New Year’s Eve
Off you go 2008 and good riddance. I can only hope 2009 will be better, but I’m in wait and see mode on that one.
But, the more important thing at the moment is celebrating the old year out and the new year in! Today, I’m baking a cake complete with buttercream frosting. Tonight, we’ll cuddle up and watch New Year’s Rockin’ Eve for LG because she loves the “teehee” Jonas Brothers “teehee”. We’ll drink sparkling apple cider at midnight and then she’ll go off to her bed for the rest of the night.
Tomorrow we’ll watch the parades and I’ll make a good Southern meal of pot roast, black-eyed peas and cornbread (since I have Southern roots). I really hate black-eyed peas to be honest, but it’s the Southern tradition for good luck in the new year and I figure the way things are going, it can’t hurt. Mike and LG have been informed that they will eat a bite whether they like it or not. (I’ve turned into my mother.) Mike said I had to make it taste good. I found a recipe that I’m trying, so I’ll keep my fingers crossed that it tastes as good as it sounds. Hopefully, there’s enough spices in there to hide the black-eyed pea flavor. Who knows? Maybe this will become our traditional New Year’s Day meal! Tomorrow the three of us (four if you count Melody) will hang out together, spend some time outside and start the new year off with the people we love most in the world. That’s the best part right?
There’s a post set to go up at some point tomorrow and I hope to get some time tomorrow night to start off my 365 Days of Grace. In the meantime, have a wonderful time with your family and friends and may God grant you a peaceful and happy 2009.
