Peaceful Saturday
We went to the hair salon today. LG goes with us so that she and Mike can go to the railroad park while I’m getting pampered and primped. I get my foils in and Mike gets his hair cut. Miss LG sits and waits and plays with her toys and is always really well-behaved. I can’t help but be a little proud of that! She sits next to the chair with the hair dryer and she usually has a nice chat with whoever occupies the chair – it often seems to be older women who miss their grandkids and really enjoy talking to her. She’s a great conversationalist and a charming little bugger.
After they leave, they keep working on my color and I have some nice peaceful time full of relaxation and adult conversation. This morning, Mike was cooking breakfast (eggs and bacon) and I kind of leaned up against the counter next to the stove while he was cooking to chat. He asked why I was just standing there and not “doing” something. I reminded him that it’s nice to just have some adult conversation now and then, because although I love my little girl to death, it’s nice to talk to grown-ups, too. He admitted he forgot what my day to day life is like. Hrmph.
There’s a really flamboyant gay man that comes to the salon and he is a hoot. He came in today a little while after Mike and LG had left to go to the railroad park. It’s always quite entertaining when he is there because he and my stylist have the most hysterical conversations. (My stylist being a gay man as well.) Both of them are really nice guys, though, and today he (the customer, not the stylist) told me I had beautiful eyes. My stylist has told me that as well. And I have to admit I don’t mind getting nice little compliments like that now and then! Gotta love gay men! ;)
After Mike and LG came back to get me and we got home, we spent some time outside. It was a gorgeous day. The weather of late has just been beautiful and it’s been a joy to be outside enjoying it. Almost makes the long, hot summer worth it. Almost. December, January and February are what really make the long, hot summer worth it. But October and November are a close second.
