Photo Essay: A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

Filed under: Photo Essay — Karin at 8:33 pm on Saturday, January 26, 2008

It was an absolutely gorgeous, beautiful, perfect day here in the desert. And since the forecast is calling for rain the next couple of days, we decided to get out and take a little walk around the neighborhood and enjoy the weather. I took my camera and snapped a few shots of the interesting things I noticed along the way. And just so Marlene doesn’t wonder why we’ve never seen these things on our walks, it’s because we did all the streets that we don’t do when LG and I walk with her and her crew…lol!

These are actually dried up weeds along our street, but I thought their texture made them look like fur…especially in black and white.

Textures

There are no less than 7 churches within walking distance of our house, actually 8 if we could figure out how to get to one of them without trespassing on private property…lol! Here are a few shots of one of them…

A Church

Cross

Mooooo….(Can I be totally honest and tell you that until today I didn’t actually realize we had cows this close to us?)

Bovinity

This is our next door neighbor’s mailbox. (And by next door neighbor, I mean that his property abuts ours, not that his house is next to ours.) Mike thought it was so cool (and so did LG and I) that he is going to make us a cool mailbox that looks like our house. Neat idea huh? Well, we’ll see if it happens this decade. ;)

Mailbox House

Don’t you love how the flag comes out of the chimney? Too cute.

Pyracantha…

Pyracantha

Is this sign confusing?

Dead Ends

The construction crew which is destroying developing “our” hill was hard at work today, probably because there is heavy rain in the forecast for the next couple of days and they needed to get some things done before it hits.

Working for a Living

I’m glad this is not our fire hydrant!

Out of Service

This amused me for some reason…

Jose Cuervo

I thought it was funny that these horses were all lined up in a row next to the fence.

Three Amigos

What was interesting about a manhole cover? I guess that it was “Made in Mexico”…lol!

Made in Mexico

And finally, the pièce de résistance – the two-headed horse!!!

Two Headed Horse

Okay, okay, it’s not really a two-headed horse. But it makes you look twice, doesn’t it? lol!

Hope your weekend is wonderful!
