Reorganization 2008!
One of the goals Mike and I set for the new year was to work on getting the house reorganized and decluttered. Well, today we took on the first room - LG’s room. Her toys had taken over the room, mostly because she didn’t really have a good storage system in her room.
I don’t have before pictures for you (although some of you know well what her room looked like before we started), but trust me when I tell you it was a MESS. She had pulled pretty much every toy out of every container she had and they all ended up on the floor.
Target (and K-Mart) had some storage bin shelves on sale for $38 and $39.99 respectively. They were pretty much the same product, but Target was out of the pastel when I went there, so I went to K-Mart, who had the pastel. That meant I had to pay a total of $4 more than I would have at Target. Oh well. I still saved $40 off the regular price. Yay for January sales!
Today we basically took all the toys out of the room into the hall, rearranged the furniture a bit and organized her toys in bins and on the shelves that we already had in the room (but that we moved to different spaces). We moved her bed to the corner (it used to be under the big white square* on the interior wall) and that really opened up her room and gave her a lot more room to play.
It’s not perfect, but it’s better and she really likes it. Not that she didn’t balk at it while we were in the process, but hey, she’s 3. That’s what they do. Now all we have to do is teach her to keep it clean!
* The big white square was originally supposed to be a mural of a window. But it’s still a big white square, so I think I might have Mike just paint it the wall color because I don’t have much faith it will ever become a mural at this point…lol!
She seemed to enjoy her new space!

It looks great, Karin! How long do you think it might stay that way? (LOL)
About a month before Christmas or more…I began doing a HUGE Clean out….I filled two 3 yard dumpsters and had 15 bins of oapers shredded up….But, There is still so much more I need to do…It is a HUGE Job…So, I understand what you are going through! Much Good Luck with the rest!
