North to Flagstaff (With Photos)

We decided to get out of the Valley and the heat (although it’s not as bad now that it’s under 100 degrees) for the day yesterday, and took a drive up to Flagstaff.

Pine trees! (Or Christmas trees as LG calls them)

In case you’ve ever wondered, the San Francisco Peaks are not in California.

Our first stop was the Visitor Center to grab a local map and see what we might find to do while we were there…

There were some pretty flowers outside the visitor center…

Then we went in search of some lunch. We went to a diner that Mike had eaten at several times when the band used to play at the Museum Club. LG enjoyed the trains at the restaurant.

Then we went to the Flagstaff Arboretum

After the Arboretum, LG was starting to droop, so while she slept in her car seat, Mike decided to just drive around an area where custom homes were being built. There were some really pretty houses there. We decided if we ever get rich, we’ll have a summer home in Flagstaff and all our friends can come visit us during the summer…lol!

Then he decided we’d go back to Phoenix via Sedona, so that meant driving through Oak Creek Canyon. Here we are at the Oak Creek Canyon Vista looking down on the road through the canyon.

And one last picture of LG…

We went through Sedona and on to Camp Verde where we ate dinner and then on to home. It was a fun, relaxing day, although I was exhausted by the time we got home after being gone almost 12 hours! But it was definitely a nice break.
