Thursday Thirteen – The Absentminded Edition

Thirteen Things about Karin

1. This morning started off on a positive note.

2. Marlene came over so that we could rehearse our songs for this weekend and get back into our routine of walking twice a week.

3. I wasn’t sure Mike would still be there when we got back, so I took the garage door opener with me and put it in the stroller.

4. When we got back, Mike was still finishing up sealing the countertops so I just went ahead and put Little Girl into her car seat so we could go to the grocery store.

5. We went to the grocery store and spent lots of money because now I can finally cook on the stove again and make healthy food and all that good stuff.

6. As we were walking out to the car, I realized that Little Girl was no longer playing with my keys and I started frantically searching for them.

7. I went back into the store and looked all around to see where she had dropped them, and finally one of the store workers spotted them UNDER the bag that was sitting on the seat next to her. Whew.

8. Then we drove home.

9. As we pulled up to the driveway, I reached up to press the button on the garage door opener.

10. Which was still in the stroller. Which was sitting inside the garage.

11. So I parked the car in the driveway, grabbed the keyring with the house keys and locked Little Girl in the car because I’m paranoid about someone stealing her. Do you see where this is headed yet?

12. After I got into the house I realized that I had locked the CAR KEYS in the car along with Little Girl. I said lots of bad words.

13. Then I called Mike, who, after I repeated the same thing about 15 times because I was slightly panicked, finally reminded me that his keys should be in the house because he doesn’t take the keys to my car with him when he goes to work. And they were. And in the 5 minutes that took? Little Girl fell asleep in her car seat.

Stresss will do strange things to the memory..(LOL)!
I sure know THAT one….!

Thank you for your kind words about the Big Big Plant today….Of course I can plant the arms, and probably will….but, if I lose the Mother Plant…I don’t have another 20 years left in me to wait for that arm to get as big and beautiful as this one….Not being negative, just realistic…BUT, I am hoping that my gardener will be able to ‘right’ it and that it will settle in and re-root…Hope Springs Eternal!

LOL when my husband was in iraq my best friend came to visit us in colorado. All the kids were in the truck…she has two I have two, anyway. We get out of the truck at the gas station, I go in to get something to drink, and she got out to get something from her bag that was in the back of the truck…needless to say the truck was running, locked, and the little remote thing I had to unlock the doors doesn’t work when the truck is running!!!

It took several minutes and candy bar bribery to get Tay to climb out of her seat to open the door! She was almost 3, and calm as could be. My friend’s daughter who was 4 was hysterical, and her 2yr old and Syd who wasn’t even 1 yet was fast asleep…it was a harsh 15 minutes or so. I thought we were going to have to call the police to unlock the door. But Tay came through and opened the door!!

Oh, that was scary I bet!!

I’m guilty of locking the keys in the car (stupid automatic locks) with a sick little one who was stuck in her car seat. What’s funny, is that Mike was right there, with his keys, trying to tell me to calm down, and I had forgotten he had a key too! :D

Oh man, I hate days like that!

(((((Karin)))) I’m glad everything is ok now!

The last time I locked the keys in the car, I left my son’s diaper bag in the car. Called hubby. His car wouldn’t start. I was really glad that my son was nursing at that point, we waited awhile! LOL

Now I have one of those stretchy wristbands to keep me from forgetting my keys again ;)

I am glad that you found your keys and I stress over someone taking my kids too! My baby boy lost my keys in a store and we never found them. Had to call family to bring me a spare. My 13 are up!

Sounds like a Monday! You poor thing. We have one of those key pad openers for the garage…what a godsend! Saved my rear a number of times.
AND why don’t they tell us that the remotes don’t work if the car is running??? I tried to warm up the car on a cold day and had to go all the way back upstairs to get the second key to get back into it. GRRR

I think that’s happened to every anal retentive mother on the planet. We’re only thinking of doing the best for our child, but we’re not really thinking about the here and now.
I’ve done that before…in a rental of all things!
I’ve enjoyed your blog.
