What We Did Today

Filed under: Dogs,House — Karin at 6:15 pm on Friday, October 7, 2005

We went to the Desert Botanical Garden’s annual fall plant sale and bought three Texas Ebonies Texas Ebony to plant where the dogs are buried/will be buried. The third one will reside in its pot, hopefully for awhile. We also bought another creosote bush Creosote Bush to plant under our bedroom window so we can smell it when we have the windows opened after it rains. I wish I could link the smell to you because it’s amazing (although I know some people really don’t care for it). In fact, having grown up in the desert, when I think of rain, I think of the smell of creosote. And rain anywhere else doesn’t smell quite right to me. We also got two flowering plants to put under the first two Texas Ebonies. One was a Willowleaf Aster Willowleaf Aster and the other was an Angelita Daisy Angelita Daisy.

I actually happen to be quite fond of the rain plant. My grandma (when we were much younger) Used to take us hiking all OVER the place. And she’d test us on the different plants of the desert. We’ve tasted some plants, and smelled others. My fav. was always that one. ::sigh::
