Diagnosis

Well, the news from the vet is not exactly good. Lady has cirrhosis of the liver, which is terminal. But there are medications to make her feel more comfortable and get the swelling down. Our girl won’t be with us all that much longer, but as I said before, at least we have time to say goodbye. Even if we’d really rather not.

I’m so sorry. I really love Lady. She is my favorite of your three…

    Sorry to hear :(

I am sure Bob will be excited though - now he has an old pal back to play with :)

Thanks guys. :( I sadly predict that Bob will have both his friends back within a year. I could be wrong, but I have a feeling. And my mom will have lots of doggies to pet up in heaven.

I’m really sorry to hear about Lady *hugs*. As you say, at least you have the chance to spend some more time with her and say goodbye.

[…] • Bad news - Lady has stopped eating for all intents and purposes. She will still lick a little peanut butter off our fingers when we’re trying to get her to take her medication, and as of this afternoon, she is still drinking water, but she is having a really hard time walking and her breathing is slowly getting more and more labored. It’s just getting too hard to watch her suffering. I know what we probably need to do tomorrow and I hate that it’s come to this. Mike is in denial. He says we’ll know when it’s time. I said it is time, and you know that in your heart. But he will have to let it sink in tonight while he’s at work and I think he will have come to terms with it by tomorrow. Lady and Majerle and BobDog were our babies when we weren’t ready for human ones and they have been our comfort through so many years of ups and downs and joy and sorrow. In their younger days, they would have so much enjoyed having Baby Girl around, but I know they will watch over her when they are gone. Blah. It just hurts. I’m not so good at letting go of those I love. God only made one mistake when he created dogs. He gave them life spans way too much shorter than ours. Anyway, if I’m not around too much tomorrow, you know why. Thanks for listening. […]
