The New Season Begins
I watch entirely too much television. So to make sure I could watch even more television I got a dvr to feed my addiction. The addiction started when I was a child because my silly parents let me watch too much television and then they actually let me have a television IN. MY. BEDROOM. Silly parents. TV is not good for kids. Because then they grow up into adults who watch too much television. Baby Girl is not going to have a tv in her room. NONONONONO. And somehow I have to figure out how to feed MY addiction without starting her down the boob tube path. That should be fun.
Did I ever tell you about how I used to watch Dallas in my room even though I wasn’t allowed to? (My parents were so trusting. That’s another reason there will be no tv in the bedroom.) Anyway, I would sit right in front of the tv with my hand on the channel knob, and I figured out how to change it from channel 10 (which was then CBS) to channel 12 (which was then NBC -and still is- but don’t ask me what show was on NBC at the same time Dallas was on) without making any noise whatsover. Because I had one of those black & white tvs that had the circular knob that clicked from channel to channel and you had to go past every channel to get to the next one. There was NO. REMOTE. CONTROL. How on earth did we ever survive without remote control? How did we survive without color television? (Which we didn’t have until I was practically in high school and trust me I’m not THAT old, my parents were just too cheap to buy a color tv.) And how would I survive today without dvr? I have no idea. Seriously. Anyway, back to Dallas. I actually found out Who Shot JR? when everyone else did instead of reading it in the paper like my parents did because I was watching it even though I wasn’t supposed to. Bad Karin. Oh well. Dallas seems pretty tame compared to some of the crap on tv nowadays.
So now starts the annual ritual of the fall television season. I still LOVE getting the Fall Preview TV Guide issue and I scour it and mark it up with highliters so that I know which shows are the most important to watch. But now I have dvr and so that makes it so much easier! Except next Wednesday when there are THREE shows I must watch. (If you really need to know, they are So You Think You Can Dance, Lost and The Apprentice - Martha Stewart version.) So the dvr will record two and I will watch the other. That means that I am NOT going anywhere Wednesday night. So don’t even ask. As if anyone would! HA!
All right, because I’m in a sharing mood, I’m going to share which new shows I’m planning on sampling, and then we’ll see how long I actually keep watching them. Why? Because I feel like it, that’s why. Because Mike is working and I only have you guys out there in internetland to speak to, that’s why. Because even if you really don’t care and don’t even read past the end of this paragraph, I’ll never know, and I’ll think that you did and that will make me happy. So there.
So here goes:
Sunday: Nothing new because the only new show on Sunday looks decidedly lame.
Monday:
How I Met Your Mother has an interesting premise;
Kitchen Confidential because I love the Food Network;
Out of Practice because it has the Fonz. Need I say more?
Tuesday:
Commander in Chief because it’s about time we had a woman president;
Close to Home because something has to replace Judging Amy;
Bones which I watched tonight and was rather interesting.
Wednesday:
Invasion because it looks weird and after Lost you may as well watch something else weird;
The Apprentice - Martha Stewart because I like Martha’s bad haircut better than Donald’s.
Thursday:
Reunion I might watch…maybe…we’ll see.
Friday:
Threshold which I watched tonight and was really weird but cool weird;
Three Wishes because I ♥ Amy Grant;
Inconceivable because I can’t believe they haven’t done a show about a fertility clinic before, but it BETTER be classy.
Now will I keep watching all of these new shows (in addition to all the shows I already watch) for the whole season? That is doubtful. Partly because they always cancel shows I like and that REALLY irritates me and partly because some of them will most likely prove to be too lame and painful to watch more than a couple of times. But I always start off the new season with high expectations and big plans anyway. And just remember when you think about how much television I watch which is actually way way too much, if you ever need a Trivial Pursuit partner? I’m your girl.

I’ve never played trival pursuit. *proof i go to the end*
I dig martha’s hair better than Donald’s *proof i read the middle and didn’t just skip to the end*
And I guess if we want to do anything we have to wait for either sunday or maybe thursdays?

Oh, I did forget that. I haven’t watched more than an episode or two in the last two years. That really used to be my favorite show. i don’t know what happened!
Speaking of Dallas, that was my absolute favorite show and since my mom was not as discriminating about what tv I watched, I didn’t have to hide(I didn’t have a tv in my room anyway). We watched it together for gosh sakes! What I loved even more than Dallas though was Knot’s Landing! Did you ever watch that?

Of course I watched it…hehehe. And I wasn’t allowed to watch that one either! I could so write a book about all the tv shows and movies I was NOT allowed to watch and watched anyway…lol.

I have never heard of Knot’s landing. Or what ev. I have heard of Dallas, but thought it was just a legend. And how dare I forget about Thursday’s Survivor!

Yeah, and I’m older than you, so think how I feel? :P
Never heard of Knot’s Landing??? What would Joan Van Ark, Ted Shackelford, Michelle Lee, and Donna Mills say?
And by the way, I just looked at an old cast list, and did you know that Alec Baldwin, Halle Berry, Nicolette Sheridan, Marcia Cross (two of the Desperate Housewives), Lisa Hartman (Black) and David James Elliot (among many others) were all in the cast at one time or another? lol
