Well folks, as much as I hate people from the entertainment industry sticking their noses into politics, I think that this could be what California needs, simply because I think his heart is in the right place as he cannot have any further political aspirations since he can never run for president.

Certainly SOMETHING in California needs to change. Governor Davis made a big mess an even bigger mess and deserved what he got. Yes, there were people more “qualified” for the job, but was there anyone that was able to bring democrats and republicans together to work on things and REALLY make a difference? What? You don't believe he can do that? Well then, you must have missed his nationally televised (how often does THAT happen for a governor) acceptance speech where he was literally surrounded by a branch of one of the most famous Democratic families in the United States of America. And to that I have to say that while it was a very strange picture, I was also impressed at the support they showed their family member regardless of his political leanings. Go Shrivers!

And, having a well-spoken First Lady (Maria) cannot be a bad thing either. Certainly he lacks experience in this area, but as long as he surrounds himself with people who know what they are doing, I think he can accomplish something. And the best quote of the night from Arnie? I'll try and get close to his wording anyway: “Real people win when politics as usual loses.” Amen, brother.

And, hey! If California starts getting its act together, well, then “I'll be back!” (Sorry, I couldn't resist.)

Last night was the “mixer” and tonight is the dinner/dance where I get to wear my new dress. I ended up telling Mike to go on his own last night because I am on a morning schedule and he is on a night schedule and I figured he would want to stay longer than I would and we would get mad at each other because I would make him leave earlier than he wanted because I was tired and so on. So I figured the safest thing was for him to go on his own where he could stay as late as he wanted. He was not terribly pleased with my idea at first, but when he got home at 1:30 a.m. (see???) he told me it was a good call. Of course it was! :-) Tonight, of course, I'll go with him and I will report on that later.
