In all careers, you must go through a review process…that's nothing unusual…but I'm not sure how many of them involve the boss sitting there watching you do what you do, pen and paper in hand…

In teaching, you have usually two observations per year…the first scheduled so you can plan your bells & whistles lesson and go all out, the second later in the year is a drop-in and you could be doing anything…you always pray you're actually DOING something rather than sitting on your butt grading papers while the kids do seatwork..hahaha…

Well, today I lucked out because my boss came in to do my observation and the kids were watching the Spanish video (part of the curriculum, so no big deal), but she opted to come back later…which was awesome, because then at least I had a warning and could actually do something interesting…I've been meaning to teach them how to write a book report because they are going to make book report posters for a final project type of thing…so we learned about book reports today and for a seat-of-my-pants impromptu lesson, I have to say it was damn good…hahaha…I always tend to work better under pressure anyway…but the sad part is, if I had the energy to teach like that ALL the time, I would be teacher of the year…hahaha…

Anyway, I've now convinced them that they want to grow up and read and review books for a living (Did you know, children, that there are people out there who read books and write about them for a job?) They thought that would be a pretty cool job…I think they may be right…anyway, I really have a pretty sharp class because they actually answered my questions (thank you God…that always looks good to the boss…hehe) and did a SUPERB job at helping me write the book report on the board. YES! Maybe I like 'em all right after all. ;)

Oh well, I'm sure I did some things that I could improve on, and I'm sure she'll tell me, but the note she left me said something to the effect of: “you know how to be a teacher after my own heart” or something like that…I thought that was pretty cool!

And now, sigh of relief, I don't have to stress over her coming in again to observe…YAY!!!

19 more days…but actually since I'm taking Wednesday off, only 18 for me! Whoopee!!!
