A few weeks ago, the Saguaro was home to nesting Starlings. Now it’s home to nesting Le Conte’s Thrashers. I guess it really is a cactus hotel!

Update on my mother-in-law: They did a total of three surgeries to take care of the clot. Apparently it was basically one big clot from knee to hip. They had to put the clot-busting medication directly into the veins. They also put a filter in her carotid artery to keep clots from traveling to her brain, lungs or heart. They will be keeping her a few more days to run additional tests and make sure everything is all right. So far she is doing okay, and hopefully she will be home Monday or Tuesday. Thank you for all the prayers and good thoughts. I’m positive they helped!
I took some photos of Mike’s band today. I’m not sure which I like better - this one where they are smiling or the one below where they are acting all tough guy.

Mike’s mom has had two surgeries on her leg so far. She is doing well, but was supposed to have another surgery tonight or tomorrow morning (Thursday). I’m not sure if there will be another surgery after that or not.
I’m sorry I’m not getting around to visit your blogs as quickly as I would like this week. Everything is a bit discombobulated right now due to the sick mother-in-law and the overall craziness of our schedule this week. Hopefully, things will calm down in a few days and I can get caught up on my blog reading/visiting/commenting.
I know it’s purple week, but we had a rare May rainstorm today, so I couldn’t resist this shot. LG was not happy until she could go splash in the “puddle water”.

Mike’s mom will be having the first of several surgeries on her leg tomorrow (Tuesday). We are grateful for any good thoughts and prayers that all goes well.

My mom’s favorite color was lavender. My favorite color is purple. So this week, it’s all about purple. Purple, purple, purple. Hurray for purple!
LG says, “The ‘nother Grandma is in my heart.” And so she is.
Our tradition, since I lost my mom, is to go to the cemetery on Mother’s Day. Today, we also made a trip to the hospital. As we left, LG said, “I think Grandma is going to be okay. I think your mom is going to be okay, Dad.” Today was the first day that she really got that Grandma is her dad’s mommy. And that’s pretty cool.
I hope you all had a lovely day!

That’s the name of this rose - “A Mother’s Love”.
This morning Mike’s mom had to go to the ER with a painful swollen leg which turned out to be a blood clot. They are treating it with medication so far, but she has to stay in the hospital for a couple of days, including tomorrow - Mother’s Day. If you want to read more of the story, go here.
Good thoughts and prayers are requested if you can spare them.
And to all of you mothers out there, Happy Mother’s Day.

This figurine was given to me the Christmas after LG was born. I love its simplicity.
